IHEEP 2017 is seeking transportation agency volunteers to provide presentations on topics of interest to the IHEEP delegates and vendor partners.

Many delegates cannot receive approval to attend out of state/country travel until a reasonable conference schedule is published. IHEEP 2017 is making an effort to provide a draft conference schedule as early as possible. Our 2017 Technical Program Committee requests interested presenters to engage in a dialog with the committee as soon as possible. Please fill out the form below to submit a presentation topic for consideration.

For example:

  • Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is leveraging “big data” computing to ingest, process, and report on real-time data that includes traffic speeds, snow plows (AVL), weather sensors, and crowd sourcing. We propose a joint presentation between Intelligent Transportation Systems and Office of Information Technology to explain the process of combining these data types into actionable information for essential personnel. We will also discuss methods of identifying potential cost savings and increasing safety.

  • As part of the bridge type study for this major bridge replacement project over the Cumberland River, an innovative approach to addressing the needs of the navigation industry and expediting the new bridge span arrangement and Coast Guard approval process was used. Realistic 3-D virtual environment navigation modelling was utilized to quickly come to a decision on the necessary span length of the bridge, which would not have been foreseen during the bridge span arrangement/type study phase. Seamen’s Church Institute’s world-class navigation simulation facility was utilized to leverage multiple pier placement locations and the expertise of experienced barge captains to evaluate various bridge span arrangement option. Significant project re-design time and costs were saved while achieving early concurrence on the required navigation clearances by the US Coast Guard. The new bridge features a 700-ft main span.


    • With this information, the technical committee can engage the requestor in a productive dialog about the proposed presentation.

    Data / Document Management
    Joint IT / Engineering Success Stories

    However, IHEEP 2017 is open to any topic that complements the focus areas and is relevant to highway engineering with an IT component. The 2017 Technical Program Committee encourages presentations based on experiences gained and lessons learned during that process which relates to the completed project.

    Selection of presentations will be based on the following prioritization:
    1. Presentation by HEEP delegate with a topic relevant to the focus areas.
    2. Presentation by HEEP delegate in conjunction with a vendor on topic relevant to the focus areas.
    3. Presentation by vendor on topic relevant to the focus areas.

    Please clarify if your proposed presentation deals with a planned or incomplete project.
    Presenters will be given 45 minutes; this includes 5 minute setup and 10 minutes for questions.
    Selected presenters will be required to submit a bio for publication in IHEEP 2017 program
    Selected presenters will be required to submit electronic copy of presentation prior to IHEEP 2017 conference.
